Sailing to Finland

Sam's parents have a Finnish sailing boat called a Nauticat. We took a beautiful trip across open seas to Årland
in Finland. It's the part of Finland that wants to be Swedish. They speak Swedish and it is utterly beautiful but the Finns don't want to give it up and i don't blame them.

Before we headed across the seas we stopped for a night at Arholma. One of the most northern islands in the Skargården . This is my dream house....

We stopped at a church and there just happened to be a blues band playing.

The next morning we headed to open seas.

Sleeping on a boat is awesome....and so romantic.

Thanks Solveig and Christer for a wonderful trip!

R.O.O.M at PUB on Drottninggatan

Ok I'm late at discovering R.O.O.M at PUB but wow I loved shopping there. It's ecclectic when everything else in Stockholm is well sooo Swedish and clean and modernist. Not that I don't appreciate and love a bit of minamilism but I love my objects and things and this place has lots of them. Recommend a visit for all those interior lovers.

Midsommar 2010

It's not a religious holiday nor about giving presents. It's simply a celebration of Summer and if you live in Stockholm then it's all about going out to the Skärgården. And this year we did it in style with a group of amazing friends.
Tomas sailed us on his sailing boat......

Where we met pirates on their way to a party, speakers aloft on their masts and written on the side of their boat; 'don't laugh your daughter might be on board'!
and then arrived at Gåsö where Filip's parents live.
Midsommar was in full swing at the local meadow where the Midsommar pole was already up on arrival.
I made my first blomsterkrans (flower crown) from 7 types of wildflowers.
Traditionally you're supposed to pick the flowers, put them under your pillow and dream about the person you will marry.
I was too scared that I wouldn't dream about Sam!
We the hung out in the garden.....
Everyone and everything is striped in Sweden!

And as the fullmoon came up ate a fantastic BBQ under the stars and drank Aquavit.

And drank champagne in the sauna before swimming!
Filip's parents have the most beautiful house.
His Grandmother was an artist.... such beautiful pictures.
My love for old luggage continues.
and deer skulls.

England! Old Union Jacks are super cool..... anyone see one pls let me know. I want to hang one from my window and be proud to be British! The Swedes erect their flags everywhere... I need to compete!
I love this kitchen and it's eclectic modernism.
more homage to the Brits!

Maximillia flew in from L.A and fitted right in in her fishermans waterproof (nicely styled with some old fishing nets!)
The boys fished and caught nada (well apart from Tomas who dug for worms in the garden). I always thought fish were cleverer than to believe that a brightly coloured feathery plastic thing was appetizing enough to eat!
Another rainbow above our abode.
And then home again! Awesome weekend. Thanks guys for making my first Midsommar so special! x

Dufweholms Herrgård, Södermanland

Was built originally in 1495 and has seen family feuds, romantic intrigues, lavish parties, illustrious affairs and is home to many ghosts! Proper Jane Eyre stuff. It's now a hotel which serves probably the best food I have yet to taste in Sweden (and the world if I'm honest!). All locally produced and caught in the local rivers and farms. Such a beautiful place to stay for a weekend. Recommended.

There was a 100year old shop in the garden... the packaging back then was perfect and somehow more eyecatching. Graphic designers take note.

Mannequins scare me (apart from Kelly Lebrock in 'Mannequin' cus she was hot!).

Wash with wash bear... go on boys you'll smell like bear.

Spooky dolls, Spooky painting...The whole house creaked at night.

4 glasses of wine and a fine whiskey we retired to the garden and the swinging chair..mmm.
Yum...
Scrum...
Done!

Love my new Acne dress.

I want one!
and one of these too.

WARNING: The english pronunciation of Peonies means Penis. Try asking for a bunch of penises next time your at the florist!!!

Wildflowers in Sweden are insane.

I love holes in trees... I just wanna climb in a pretend to be in the Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton!

Grrrrrrrrrr!
