Monday 31st May

If only every Monday evening could be a sunset picnic with a good magazine and a boyfriend fishing!

Fotografiska Stockholm.

Fotografiska gallery has just opened in Stockholm in an old idustrial space dating from 1906 with Annie Leibovitz: A Photographer's Life, 1990–2005.
I don't always like Annie's work but it was a very inspiring collection of iconic and personal photo's of her family.
The Sam's and I thought her photo of the Bush administration just 2 months after 9/11 was the most menacing of all. My favourite was Patti Smith and her kids.

Spring Knits

But spring in Stockholm is still chilly (I hear London is too so ha!).... so much so I'm thinking I may need to invest in some angora furriness.

Kinda this time last year......

Antonia and I went to Paris to buy me a 30th birthday dress.
It was an awesome day.... Spring was in the air, tulips in the park, there were plenty of coffee and cigarettes and we were treated like Princess's at L'Eclaireur whilst I tried on the entire store. Needless to say I came away with one of my favourite pieces of all time... a Rik Owens backless jumpsuit. What I also wanted to buy was this incredible crocodile skull. Forget antlers! Just couldn't afford 2000 eur unfortunately!

Acne Studio's HQ

Stockholm Syndrom origins

We all know the story... bank robbers take hostage and hostage later falls for their captures. But what you don't know is that the story a) sadly isn't true b)it happened in a bank in Stockholm which is now Acne's biggest studio store in Norrmalmstorg.

Bank robber Jan Erik Olsson was holed up in a vault with his hostages for 3 days. When negotiations started he asked for his friend, 3 million kroner, 2 guns, bullet proof vests and a fast car to be sent in ( presumably he meant for the car to be left outside!). Police rescued the hostages by drilling through to the vault, which is now the changing room!

Yasuragi Spa Stockholm

A beautiful serene place set on the side of a rock hill overlooking the water but nestled amongst pine trees (and a scattering of Japenese fauna). This place rocks! You are taught how to wash japenses style sitting on a small wooden stool with your own wooden bucket which you fill and pour over yourselves. The hot pools are all made from stone and have big rocks to lean against whilst you sit admiring the view.
Designed in 1977 by Japanese architect Yoji Kasajima this place has elements of the house in 'A Single Man'. Naturally Edie and I now want a summer house with decking and hot pools just like it. Will the Åkesson brothers be able to make our dreams come true?? Go on!

Birthday blossom!

It's like candy floss, I could just eat it!
This is Kungsträdgården in the middle of Stockholm and the whole park is full of cherry blossom.
